Benefits of Double-Pane Glass Video

Double-pane windows are now the new standard. They are much more energy efficient than single-pane windows. This video also explains how most new windows also come with low-e glass which is slightly more expensive but can save you considerable money on your energy bill.

1. Single Sheet and Double-Pane Glass

  • In the last twenty tears, using a single sheet of glass in a window has been replaced by double-pane. Double-pane is two eighth of an inch pieces of glass set one over the other, sandwiched in between by a piece of aluminum or a super spacer.

2. Double-Pane Glass Benefits

  • Double-pane glass improves the insulation value in your home from 30% to 50% depending on what type of coating you put on the glass.
  • The standard in the industry for double-pane is low e glass, which prevents heat transfer in the summer and has the opposite effect in the winter.
    • Using double-pane with low e glass generally costs 5% more than other glass, but you will see a saving in your energy bill of about 15% in the long run.
