Daily Pool Care

  • Empty pump basket and skimmer baskets.
  • Run the pool filter system for at least eight to ten hours each day. If you don't have a pool timer you'll have to remember to turn it on and off manually. (The best time to run the filter is during the day.)
  • Add chlorine every day. You can easily add three inch slow dissolving tablets to the skimmers. Quick tabs or granular chlorine must be added daily. If you are using automatic chlorinator or floating chlorinator, it can be used once a week rather than every day.
  • Check the filter to make sure it runs at the recommended pressure.
  • If you're use a pool heater, make sure it's turned off at least 20 minutes before the filter system turns off.

Weekly Pool Care

  • Check the pressure gauge and backwash the filter.
  • Skim the pool surface using a net or a leaf rake type skimmer.
  • Remove debris, dirt and insects from the skimmer basket. Also check baskets for small pool toys, which tend to get trapped in skimmers.
  • Brush down the entire pool with a pool brush which attaches to your pool pole.
  • Vacuum the entire pool.
  • Turn off the filter and open the pump lid to empty the pump basket.
  • Test pool water alkalinity, PH and chlorine, adjust pool chemicals as necessary.
  • Add chlorine, weekly if using 3' tablets.
  • Super chlorinate or shock the pool.
  • Check to see that the water level of the pool comes to mid-skimmer.
