Essential Swimming Pool Equipment

Swimming pool equipment is not visibly apparent to those who enjoy your pool, but is vital to your pool's safe operation and maintenance. The following essential items will make your pool experience a pleasant one.

Pool Pumps and Filtration Systems

Swimming pool filtration systems and pumps both play integral roles in ensuring that your pool stays clean. A pump transfers the water both to and from your pool via a filter which will sift the water and ensure that any harmful remnants get cleaned out.

Pool Heaters

Pool heaters are important for anyone wishing to swim on a cooler day or at night or who'd like to extend the swimming season a bit longer. Heaters carry water from the pool to a heater which will warm the water and then send it back to the pool.

Pool Cleaners

Pool cleaners and vacuums use suction to grab dust and dirt from the bottom or the surface of the pool. Some cleaners go down to the bottom and sweep and scrub the dirt that is stuck on the pool's floor. Cleaners come in all shapes, sizes and various weights. Cleaners normally slide on the bottom of the pool's floor to clean, while others may skim on the surface. Some cleaners are able to perform both functions.

Pool Chemicals

Chemicals purify, sanitize and stabilize the pool's water and are essential to swimmers' safety.

Pool Ionizers and Generators

Swimming pool ionizers are an environmentally friendly means of cleaning and sanitizing the pool's water. These work by discharging a type of metal ion that kills dangerous microorganisms.

Electric ionizers are plugged into outlets. Check to make sure yours is suitable for any different type of weather.

Solar ionizers work by floating in the pool and the energy they use has no cost. Pool ionization systems may come with some type of testing instruments which can allow homeowners to monitor the ion count and ensure the water maintains proper balance.

Ozone generators are increasing in popularity. These send ozone into the pool which will eliminate any harmful bacteria.

Pool Covers

Swimming pool covers are made to perform different functions throughout various times. Swimming pool owners all commonly use winter covers, solar covers and safety covers.

Winter covers can be used all year long. They not only reduce water evaporation but will also protect your pool from leaves and branches that can damage or stain any pool.

Safety covers are designed to be strong enough to ensure that animals and children cannot accidentally fall into a pool.

Solar pool covers not only retain the water's heat and minimize the amount of water that will evaporate from the pool, they can also increase water temperature by the sun's energy to the water.
